Organised by Investment Fiji, at the PMIBA 2024held at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort in Nadi, PAFCO was honoured with the prestigious Excellence in Fisheries Award, sponsored by the Reserve Bank of Fiji.
This award celebrates businesses with outstanding export success and a dedication to sustainable practices, both of which are at the heart of PAFCO's operations.
PAFCO's Chief Executive Officer, Saiyad Raiyum, expressed immense pride as he accepted the award on behalf of his team.
We are a company that started in 1963 in Fiji, and this is a joyous occasion for us. I want to thank every team member, from my operations manager to the cleaner and security guard, because without their dedication and effort, we wouldn’t be standing here today. We are thrilled and grateful to Investment Fiji for this recognition."
Over the years, PAFCO has continually expanded, maintaining a competitive edge in the global market by producing quality canned tuna products.
As Raiyum noted, PAFCO’s exports to the United States have grown steadily, and the company is expecting to enter European markets in the near future, further cementing its reputation as a key player in the Pacific's fisheries sector.
PAFCO's growth trajectory is set to continue, with plans to diversify its product range even further.
"We currently have 12 products in stores, and we aim to offer one for every month of the year," Raiyum shared.
"Our future plans are focused on maintaining this upward movement and continuing to innovate, ensuring we remain a growing exporter of premium quality canned tuna products."
PAFCO’s flagship Sunbell brand, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, has been a major part of this success, reflecting the company's legacy of producing trusted, high-quality products.
Investment Fiji’s Chief Executive Officer, Kamal Chetty, praised PAFCO for its exceptional contribution to the industry.
“PAFCO has set the bar for sustainability, innovation, and community development in the fisheries sector. Their commitment to ethical practices and environmental responsibility is a shining example of Fijian ingenuity at work,” mentioned Chetty.
With decades of industry experience, PAFCO continues to lead the way in sustainable fishing practices, expanding its global reach while supporting local communities. The Excellence in Fisheries Award is a well-deserved recognition of the company’s dedication to quality, sustainability, and growth in both regional and international markets.
