"This award is actually another sort of award for us as in the sense that we are just coming out of the Business Excellence Award."
Highlighting the significance of the awards, the CEO expressed immense delight and acknowledged the areas in which the company received recognition.
"Especially in the areas that we are being recognized, one in the excellence in e-commerce and the other one is the Best Crisis Recovery," the CEO stated.
The company's pioneering efforts in E-commerce were emphasized, being the first port to implement a Vessel Traffic Management System in the Pacific region.
This innovative approach was a key factor highlighted in their submission for the award.
The CEO also underscored the pivotal role the port played during the pandemic, ensuring continuous operation and economic activity even when other sectors faced challenges.
"During the pandemic period when everything was closed, there was not a lot of economic activity happening; the ports however were operating 24/7 to keep the nation and the economy going," the CEO explained.
Manager Planning and Strategy Implementation Florence Nand, expressed gratitude to Investment Fiji for organising the event, as well as extending appreciation to stakeholders, shareholders, and customers for their unwavering support.
These awards, according to Nand contribute significantly to the company's initiative to become the "smart green gateway for the Pacific in the region," showcasing their commitment to excellence in both technological advancement and crisis resilience.
