AHICE Fiji Investment in Tourism Summit, a call to action

The interests for investments into Fiji’s Tourism sector places the country at the forefront amongst its competitors in the region.

 Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka, while addressing the attendees at the AHICE Fiji Investment in Tourism Summit, highlighted Fiji’s commitment to improving the tourism industry through strategic investments and key partnerships. 

 Emphasizing the importance of the summit, which will highlight the promising opportunities for stakeholder’s keen on investing in Fiji’s tourism sector, Hon. Gavoka stated "The discussions and partnerships that emerged from last year’s summit have laid a strong foundation for future growth.”

"Last year, we welcomed929,740 visitors, contributing an estimated $3.2 billion to our economy. This year, we expect to achieve another historic milestone with a millionvisitors," he revealed.

 Acknowledging the increasing demand for tourism services, Minister Gavoka stressed the need for new investments, particularly in expanding hotel capacities across Fiji.

 Echoing his sentiments Investment Fiji Chief Executive Officer Kamal Chetty during the Ease of Doing Business panel discussion highlighted the importance of the regulations, policies in place to encourage investors in starting their operations in Fiji.

 Investment Fiji works very closely with its line Ministry (Ministry for Trade, Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Communications) to enhance the business environment.

 “Our line Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Honorable Manoa Kamikamica is very proactive with his approach to moving these developments and projects forward.”

 One of the key implementations that the organization is involved in is with the Investment Facilitation Committee chaired by Hon. Kamikamica.

 “IFC works to improve and streamline process approvals, identifying bottleneck issues and relevant solutions,” he said.

 “Investment Fiji is also part of this committee and we work hard to assist these businesses to navigate these through these issues.”

 “Another initiative that has started is the businessNow portal which will be Fiji's go-to hub for entrepreneurs and investors, simplifying the process of starting a business and allowing for seamless interaction with various Government agencies.”

 The AHICE Fiji Investment in Tourism Summit is organised by HM Magazine with co-partners Investment Fiji and Tourism Fiji.
